Here are a couple snaps from this year’s High Cascade Snowboard Photography Workshop’s Night Shoot. If I’ve done my math correctly, this is the 12th Annual Workshop. This program has sprouted a lot of photography talent over the years. Thank you Andy Wright, Tim Zimmerman and Chris Wellhausen for holding it down and for having me as a guest instructor/lecturer this year.

With the layers of flooring removed and the raw wood exposed it didn’t take us long to motivate to finish this project.
The kitchen is tightly sealed off from the rest of the house.
Tony using his big muscles to sand the floor down to more beauty.
I hand sanded between each coat of floor lacquer.
Isn’t it pretty?
As much as I appreciate the retro aspects of avocado green, too much of a good thing can be overwhelming. Without question this was the case in our kitchen. It was time for the 70’s floor to go. Our home was built in 1896 and we had suspicion that below the retro green flooring lay a fir floor just ready to be reclaimed.
Goodbye green floor, I will not miss you.
Fir floor in the dining room appears to continue into the kitchen, being covered up a lot of retro goodness.
Our suspicions are confirmed. Beauty lies beneath.
Almost done with the tear out. Whooohhooo
While I do live very near to the Oregon Coast I do not get to surf as much as I’d like too. I love it when friends come from out of town and motivate me to go to the beach. The last fews days I hung out at the beach with the P.S. Crew- (Hana Beaman, Robin Van Gyn and Leanne Pelosi) as they filmed the intro section to their movie. We had fun camping, surfing, eating and shooting lifestyle images. Here are a few photos from the beach.
Mmmmmmm. Beach fire.
If you can get your hands on a copy of Cooler Magazine out of the U.K. it’s well worth a read. The current issue has beautiful lifestyle photos of Laura Enever shot by Kassia Meador, a Travel Guide of Portland written by Rian Rhoe and photographed by Christy Chaloux (that’s me), a rider profile of one of my favorite snowboarders, Iris Lazzareschi and a motivating article How to do: Salt Printing. In usual Cooler Magazine form, the issue profiles fashion inspiration and great photography. If you haven’t check it out, now is the time.

Just got back from a trip to Colorado were I met up with the P.S. Girls, Robin Van Gyn and Hana Beaman. You can check out some of the webisodes from this season here. Keep an eye out for an edit from this trip.
Robin and Hana are silly, these are a few photos of them right before they hit the backcountry jump they are sitting on.
I mentioned in my last post that I was on my way to take a hike at Fort Steven’s State Park. It’s been such a beautiful and dry year here on the Oregon Coast. Below are few photos from our hike. My new friend and recent Colorado transplant, Sara and her man’s “best friend” Sonoma joined me. They are adorable models.

Proof that the sun does shine on the Oregon Coast.
Stopped off at an estate sale on the way to a hike at Fort Steven’s State Park and picked up this Kodak Brownie Box Camera for 90 cents. Probably won’t be photographing much snowboarding with this gem, but excited to add it to the small, but growing stash of film cameras.
Last Winter I went on a super fun snowboard trip to Southern Colorado with Hana Beaman, Kimmy Fasani and Cheryl Maas. It was a winning combination at one of my favorite locations, I knew it would be awesome. And it was, for several reasons but the coolest part was the mind blowing, progressive riding from all three of these female pro snowboarders. Both Kimmy and Cheryl landed double backflips in the backcountry. Here are the sequences of the double backflips that went down 1 year ago today. Good times girls, here’s to flipping out over many more sunny pow days.
